Giuseppe Penone: A Tree in the Wood
Giuseppe Penone: A Tree in the Wood
A Tree in the Wood is an extensive and elegant catalogue published to accompany Giuseppe Penone’s remarkable 2018 exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
A wealth of stunning colour photography by Jonty Wilde captures both his monumental bronze sculptures against the Yorkshire landscape and the indoor installation in the light-filled Underground Gallery. Alongside these images are essays offering insights into Penone’s unique way of viewing the world. These include The Artist in the Trees, a specially commissioned text by writer and art critic Martin Gayford, who regularly writes for The Spectator and is author of titles including Michelangelo: His Epic Life, and A History of Pictures: from Cave to Computer Screen, which he co-wrote with David Hockney. Exhibition Curator and YSP Director of Programme, Clare Lilley, and YSP Curator, Sarah Coulson have also written for the publication.
