Joana Vasconcelos: Beyond is a celebration of cultural tradition, femaleness and love and brings together works from twenty years of the artist’s career in her largest ever UK exhibition. This remarkable and engaging selection challenges our expectations of familiar objects, whilst making insightful, and often amusing, observations on the dynamics of the Western world. Textile craft is embedded in Vasconcelos’ practice and references her Portuguese heritage, revealing the importance of tradition, and the power of creativity to unite across cultures.
